…we published a major investigation into the Bank of Portugal and Mário Centeno. A little over two months before the end of his term, Governor Mário Centeno, with the support of his administration, decided to bind the Bank of Portugal to a promissory contract with four companies in the Fidelidade Group for the construction of one of the largest projects in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area in the coming years: the new headquarters of the central bank, to be located on the former Feira Popular grounds . He did so despite being warned by legal and technical advisors about serious and high-risk contingencies that could jeopardize the deal, which will only be completed by the end of 2027. This is also the subject of another episode of the podcast " A História do Dia " (The Story of the Day), where Observador's chief editor, Luís Rosa, explains this entire investigation into the Bank of Portugal and Mário Centeno. |
